Ever tried to imagine how a church looked a thousand years ago?  Artist Maggie Kneen has.  And, blessed readers, you're the first to see her latest reconstructions of the Anglo-Saxon priory church at Deerhurst.  Enjoy!

The Anglo-Saxon Monk, as you would expect, has been faithful to his word.  Yesterday at the end of my interview with artist and Viking Maggie Kneen, I promised my blessed readers that they would get first dibs of her latest archaeological/architectural drawings.  And, lo and behold, Margaret of the Clan of the Wolf has kindly obliged.  What a lovely Viking!

So please enjoy, below, Maggie's two revised drawings of St Mary's Priory Church at Deerhurst.  Maggie has been working with archaeologists Richard Bryant and Carolyn Heighway, and architectural historian Michael Hare, whose hard work, Maggie informs me, is what enabled her to produce these spectacular drawings.  So, as Maggie also said, kudos to them!  (That must be some Old Norse word, I imagine.)

Dear Maggie
I would like with your permission to use your excellent illustration showing a reconstruction of Deerhurst church in a lecture that I am giving on board the P&O liner Oceana in February. I would of course credit you with copyright notice. If you agree, perhaps you could please.email to me a clean copy of your illustration.
Thank you in advance for considering my request.

I would also like to request the images of Deerhurst Anglo-Saxon church without the copyright message. I am a U3A-Cambridge tutor and I am doing a course on the Golden Age in Anglo-Saxon Art 900 - 1066 and I am doing a session on architecture.
